The outstanding fact of the history of South-East Asia in the 12th century was the rise of a Muslim kingdom, Samudra Pasai. Many historians believe that the said period was the turning point of islamization in Indonesia by the Indians. Therefore, Snouck Horgronje held that Islam which was received by Indonesian already experienced a process of adaptation towards the world of Hinduism.
